Anyone who knows us Nomads know we love two things – Tampa and Coffee Shops! Since we do a lot of our work independently, we love to hit up coffee shops for great atmospheres and yummy caffeine to fuel our bodies and keep us going when we have a lot to get done. Whether at home in Tampa or traveling, we will always find the local coffee shop with the strongest wifi to work in ;).

All of this and more is why we are sooo excited for this post and appreciative of our friend Abby for putting together a comprehensive list of Tampa’s best coffee shops and little blurbs about why each of them are so amazing.

If you’re a lover of all things trendy and coffee then this post is for you! Tampanians (Tampans?) thrive on caffeine and Tampa is home to some unique shops serving up some quality coffee in atmospheres ranging from sleek and stylish to cute and cozy or both!

Find out which coffee shop you’ll hit first below:

In order to show y’all how each shop compares to each other, we’ve put together a little chart to help rank them each on different characteristics. These rankings are based on her EXPERT knowledge of Tampa’s coffee shop scene – and us nomads couldn’t agree more!

Caffeine Roasters

Caffeine- that’s what we came here for isn’t it?

Caffeine has every aspect of a perfect coffee shop: great atmosphere, awesome staff, good coffee, easy on the wallet, and a cozy design aesthetic. Not only that, but their menu has a ton of items ranging from croissant breakfast sammies to artisan flatbreads! Avo toast there is $4.75 and it’s a thick slice of multigrain bread spread with avocado aioli, spinach, and topped with sliced avocado. I love to get two poached eggs on top and douse everything in Cholula!

P.S. Caffeine is a personal favorite of Carley and I’s. The people who work there are truly so sweet and it’s basically our second home!

DI Coffee Bar

In the heart of Davis Island resides a warm and collective environment with the smells of roasted coffee beans. I’ve found that DI Coffee Bar is a great place if you want to focus on studying/work:  Ambient R&B music is always playing (imagine the Urban Flora album by Alina Baraz) which always helps me get into my concentration zone.

Not only do they have cute and quirky greeting cards, but they also carry wine and Seventh Avenue Apothecary candles! Look over your shoulder and grab one of the candles on a nearby shelf and inhale the scents of white tea and fig, or even spiced rum and coconut. Next door is a tiny space where FitBowl Co. opened, making acai and pitaya bowls that taste as though you teleported to Bali. Definitely instagrammable.

The Bunker

Nestled in the historic city of Ybor is The Bunker. Not sure if this place will protect you from a nuclear bomb but their coffee will definitely protect you from procrastination. The ceiling is strung up with colorful christmas lights and gives the whole space that warm-fuzzy feeling.

There are a ton of students that hangout here to study since Hillsborough Community College is right around the corner. Among the students sitting here are also some of the most interesting people that live around Ybor; everybody has a story, and you can definitely feel that energy in this space!

Buddy Brew

Brew Good Do Good! And hey, I’m a fan of any business that has a dog’s face as the logo…

Buddy Brew is the type of coffee shop that lies first in my consideration set. As amazing as their menu items are, they are a touch expensive though. Their avo toast is around $10 and my student budget just cringed as I typed that. Some days the music gets a bit scattered too, but for the majority of time, the staff plays some pretty chill tunes.

Other than a great place to study and catch up with friends, Buddy Brew is a surprisingly a great place to network! The staff is super nice and everyone has great energy. This is definitely a gem, a must-visit if you come to Tampa.

Foundation

Nestled on Franklin St. is Foundation Coffee Co. This shop is HUGE with maybe 20ft hight ceilings, great drinks, a peaceful outdoor area with a fountain, and little pre-made meals that are made by a small business owner in the Tampa Bay Community!

Not only do they support local businesses, but they also are one of the only coffee shops that carries macadamia nut milk, super hipster.

JetCity Espresso

One thing I love about Tampa is that a lot of the old houses in the Hyde Park area have been converted into businesses. Jet City Espresso is located in the kitchen of a quaint little house; the space is probably the same size as your dorm room.

Even though the coffee shop is small, don’t underestimate Jet City! They have:

  • Some of the best homemade vegan treats
  • Art from Local Artists
  • An iconic drink, the orange blossom latte which is:

A very unique, truly Tampa spot!

The Blind Tiger

This little shop has two locations: Ybor and the new one on SOHO. Ybor, as you can probably get the idea by now, is a pretty unique area filled with culture by day and debauchery by nightfall.

The Bling Tiger was founded and cultivated in Tampa by a graphic design student (hence why their logo is kick ass). Great coffee, nice staff, but the internet can be slow at times. The location on South Howard is more like a cafe where it serves more food than the location in Ybor; acai bowls, sandwiches, wines, and even a haberdashery) a place that sells men’s accessories) connected to it!

Ko(fe)

The Hall on Franklin is an innovative restaurant concept that is essentially a big food hall. Consisting of seven different mini kitchen all with their own branding, The Hall is considered a collective eatery of a ton of different flavors to explore.

Ko(fe) is one of their mini kitchens that serves coffee, tea, and small plates. What I love most about this space is that it’s a great place to go socialize and meet people; there’s really great people-watching that you can do here!

The whole front of The Hall’s building are these industrial-looking garage doors and when they open them up the whole ambiance becomes so inviting, people just walk in from wherever and sit in front of these mini kitchens. From the innovative atmosphere to the sophisticated design aesthetic, Ko(fe) is a hit!

The Attic

The prettiest views of any coffee shop in Tampa: The Attic Cafe

Located on the fourth floor of some building in Downtown is a little coffee shop with incredible skyline views

The Attic doesn’t have the best interior design, but it sure does have kick ass cuban bread and coffee. Although there’s a time limit on the wifi, walking outside to the deck and looking out into the skyscrapers of Tampa Bay might make you not want to be on the wifi at all and just simply enjoy the view…

A great hidden gem to escape to see the heights of Downtown Tampa!
